Sociology as a Discipline

Sociology emerged at the time of the arrival of Modern world. Soon, it replaced Social Anthropology to become the foundation of Social Sciences taught in the modern Universities in the Western world. Since then, Sociology as a discipline has maintained its precedence and dominance by offering solutions to the riddles that the interaction among the traditional, transitional, modern and post-modern societies posed. Added to its ability to understand, analyse and suggest policy measures to the emerging social problems, Sociology delves into the domains of both abstract and concrete of history, polity and economy by making its presence felt in all social science disciplines. In a way, we are living in the Era of Sociology.
