was established in 1971. It offers M.A., M.Phil. and
Ph.D. courses. The main objective and the programme
of the department is to high light the regional history
in the context of national history. Main
Thrust of the academic programmes of the department
has been on social, economic and cultural history.

M.A/M.Phil courses are made on the basis of merit in the Entrance
Test.

Eligibility
M.A:
B.A. (Hons), Bachelor in Social Sciences (Hons School) under
(10+2+3) system or Bachelor Degree in any faculty under (10+2+3)
system with at least 50% marks or any other examination equivalent
thereto or at least 45% marks in the subject of History or
Sociology or Public Administration in B.A. under 10+2+3 system.
M.Phil.
: M.A. in History with at least 55% marks. Admission
to both the courses is made exclusively on the basis of the
merit in the Entrance Test.
Ph.D.
: The enrolment of Ph.D. is based on UGC/NET/University
